Keeping Entertained in a Low-Tech Environment, Part V: How to Make a Rubber-Band Bouncy Ball

(This entry dictated by Oscar)

Step 1: Find a good center for your bouncy ball. A rolled up tissue works well, or you could experiment with a ball of cork or something similar.

Step 2: Get one or two bags of rubber bands and wrap rubber bands around your center.  Adjust them a little to make sure they’re just right and won’t fall off.  At the beginning, you’ll have to twist your rubber bands in half and double them up.

Step 3: Keep doing this until you have a large bouncy ball about the size of a tennis ball.  It will bounce even better than a store-bought bouncy ball, so you will need to take it somewhere where it will not break anything when you use it.

Step 4 (Optional): Wrap a cut-in-half balloon around it to make it smoother and able to bounce straighter.
