Lions, and almost everything but tigers and bears!

The central piece of safari, though, is the animals. Our mission every day on our “game drives” was to go spot some particular kind of animal known to be in a general area at that time in the small rainy season.  Brady added over 250 birds to his lifetime bird list, and we all saw more animals than it is interesting to list.  We by no means were able to watch any animals long enough to really observe their behavioral patterns, but between glimpsing them for a while plus a lifetime of watching animal shows, visiting zoos, and reading, it was a pretty satisfying education.  Here are some of the greatest hits photos of animals from our safari.

  1. Wow! I'm not even an animal person, but those are some great pics. I hope the boys and you enjoyed yourselves. My favorites were the pics of the giraffes and the blue lizard and the weird turkey-looking thing.

  2. Dana, I've been collecting some flower pictures especially for you (and my botanist husband)--more later! Oh, and the blue lizard is an agama lizard, and the weird turkey-looking thing is either a crowned crane or a secretary bird (depending on which one looks turkey-like to you!).
